Angie Henderson
Angie Henderson has been working in the field of chronic pain for over 10 years. Like many others passionate about working with individual’s living with chronic pain, Angie’s career has focused on the pursuit to understand chronic pain, explore the widespread consequences for both individuals and society, and the endless journey to improve her clinical skills. Angie has extensive clinical experience working in chronic pain, both in the public and private sector, and has taken any opportunity to learn and grow from her patients, mentors, and industry giants. Prior to moving to NZ 2.5 years ago, Angie was a co-director for a physiotherapy business focused on rehabilitation for injured workers living with chronic pain, as well as working with various stakeholders and employers to capture individuals at higher risk of developing chronic pain and delivering an early intervention approach. Prior to this, Angie has been involved in setting up several similar physiotherapy services, including for the Neurospine Institute in Western Australia, a team of likeminded neurosurgeons. After several years of working in this clinical area, Angie became increasingly frustrated with the lack of answers for those living with chronic pain. Consequently, she completed the Master of Science in Medicine (Pain Management) degree at Sydney University. Since moving to NZ, Angie has been working for Habit Health’s Pain Management Service, initially as a senior physiotherapist, then she moved into the Pain Clinical Lead role for Auckland, and now is the Pain Service Lead, overseeing the Pain Management Service for the country. She is responsible for the clinical service delivery of ACC’s pain management programs. For Angie, this role is a dream opportunity to create real change for people living in pain. Angie is passionate, dedicated, and driven to improving the lives for those living with chronic pain. She is very eager to step into the next level of leadership, such as that of becoming a council member for NZPS, where she hopes to continue to make a difference for everyone impacted by chronic pain.
